Darren Rumford, founder of Rumford Accounting, provides personal, face-to-face accounting and financial services for growing businesses in north-central and northeast Kansas. He specializes in small and micro businesses that have outgrown 'do it yourself' bookkeeping but aren’t ready to hire a full-time accountant.

 

Darren is laid back and easy to work with, yet principled and thorough when it comes to doing things right. His approach includes a strong plan with lots of communication. This provides stability in the day-to-day and in seasons of change.

About Darren Rumford

Darren grew up in a few communities in southwest and northwest Kansas. He graduated from Fort Hays State University with a bachelors degree in Accounting.

His career started in 1983 at the Colby, KS, office of a regional CPA firm. In 1987, he moved to Manhattan, KS, and for the past 35 years has worked in positions from Assistant Finance and Accounting Manager to Chief Financial Officer for three different companies.

Darren's public accounting experience includes work with banks, a community college, livestock feedlots, grain elevators, and a variety of retail businesses. He has also worked with a variety of private companies, including a not-for-profit membership company, insurance companies, an internal management company, a rural hospital, an architectural design/real estate development/consulting company, and a senior living facility. He is a Quickbooks Pro Advisor.

Darren has been married to Danae for 37 years. They have two children, Preston and Aubrey. The family enjoys following Kansas State sports teams as well as Kansas City professional teams. Darren likes to golf.

Darren and Danae are active members of Manhattan’s First United Methodist Church in Manhattan.
